Information for Musicians Who Want to be Considered for Bonnie Branch
NOTE: I am currently booked through my 2008-2009 season. Any inquiries would be for fall 2009 or later consideration.
If you are a musician looking for a venue, I may be interested in hosting you, so feel free to contact me. But before you do, please read all of the following carefully:
- I focus my series on acoustic rock/pop/jazz/blues/Americana with an annual classical concert thrown in for good measure. I'm sorry, but I don't pursue traditional folk, bluegrass or country.*
- I only host about 6 or 7 shows a year between September to April and my schedule is set 8 to 12 months in advance. If I really like your music, we'll work something out, but not this season. Asking for a show in the next month or two will be ignored.
- I do not host shows during the months of May, June, July and August. I don't have central A/C... yet. (If you see a show in those months on my schedule, that means friends have agreed to host a specific artist they like.)
- My house holds about 25-30 people; yes, it's small, but intimate. To see some photos of the layout, click here.
- Strictly acoustic! No PA will fit nor is necessary; perhaps a small amp for an electric guitar or keyboard, but that's it. NO EXCEPTIONS! (Seriously, for those of you who say you want to "save my voice" with a microphone, it would completely overwhelm my space.)
- I need to hear more of your music than some short clips; sending me either a demo CD or some full-length MP3s is required. Live is much preferred if possible.
- I guarantee no minimum fee, just a per-person donation request.
- I sign no contracts because I guarantee nothing except a place to perform. Besides, I'm not a business. Businesses sign contracts. I have a reputation to uphold, so I can always give references to musician friends whom I've hosted who will assure I keep my promises. (The contract thing is contrary to what many songwriter workshops tell you, but we're talking about my living room, not a club.)
- I only host shows on Saturday or Sunday. Don't ask for a weekday because you happen to be coming through that week. I won't do it.
- I am more than happy to provide food and lodging for the musicians I book. Just let me know if you're interested.
- Please keep in mind, the odds of me hosting you is slim because I only do 6 or 7 shows a year. Your best bet is to invite me to come hear you play when you're in the area so I can meet you and chat and get to know you a bit.
- Finally, if you've read this far, perhaps you're serious and want to impress me with more than just a form letter sent out to a dozen venues at once. If you really want to impress me, put the word "Singollo" in the subject line and that will get you looked at and listened to even faster because I'll know you've taken the time to read through everything.
With all that said, please feel free to contact me. I've come across some excellent musicians looking for a place to play. So I am interested in hearing from musicians. If I'm booked solid, your music is off-genre for me, or I just don't think it will be a good fit with my series, I'll be politely straight with you.

* I realize that "folk music" is a nebulous term. Many musicians I love and would eagerly host consider themselves folk musicians. So for my purposes, if you are a "folk singer" with strong influences from the rock, pop and/or jazz world, then you're more likely to be of interest to me. If your influences are more the folk singers of the 60s and 70s, then probably not so much.
